Business plan and business plan template
A business plan template is a roadmap showing where your business is going and how it's going to get there. Your plan serves both the internal management needs of your company and the informational needs of external entities that are critical to the venture's success, such as financiers and investors. Whether you're just starting out, need funding, or want to monitor the health of your business, writing a plan is your first step on the path to success. A common technique in writing a plan for a business is to use a plan template, example plan, or a plan outline. There are several standard sections that should appear in almost every plan; thus a plan template can be very helpful in making sure that you remember to include each section. However, no matter how good a template may seem, your business is unique; your plan should be unique as well. When writing a plan, you want to be as descriptive and colorful – but accurate – as possible. There are many websites claiming to offer free plan templates, but you may find when you look at them that what they offer is incomplete – or not so free. Three of the best sites to go to for a free - and actually helpful - plan template are: http://www.bus.ucf.edu/rquinn/4932templates.htm (this site is run by the University of Florida, and includes a downloadable MS PowerPoint presentation plan template), http://www.sba.gov/sbaforms/sba1010c.pdf (this site is run by the Small Business Administration, and the document is very thorough; while you can’t save changes made to the .pdf file, you can fill in the blanks, copy and paste the entire document to a Word or WordPerfect file, and then save it), and http://www.2-small-business.com/excel_templates.shtml (this site provides many plan templates and MS Excel templates for small businesses, and its contents are very helpful).
